Sound work containing sounds discovered in the field and sound compositions fabricated live in the field during explorations of the southeast coast of Lake Michigan.

During restorative campaigns to the South Haven, Michigan, area over the past two years, I encountered wonders that left me speechless. The sonic energy associated with these speechless things was captured on sound recording devices by microphones, geophones, hydrophones and contact microphones. If conditions permitted, a live compositional sketch was created in the field to augment the experience and more fully capture the mood. These recordings were then fabricated into the final composition.

Chronologically, the work follows a day from dawn to dusk. Geographically, it emerges from the shores of Lake Michigan and travels a path along the coast from Saugatuck Dunes State Park to Van Buren State Park. It goes inland up the Black River and then back to Lake Michigan before returning to a cottage on South Haven Street.

Though created as a continuous work, it can be divided into the following tracks:
